Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 100: Tommy Guerrero

A dream come true episode. Tommy said he would do episode 100 and he delivered. We talk about working with Jake at Concrete Jungle, filming Animal Chin in SF, playing in a punk band at age 13 and getting into over 21 clubs(Free Beer), leaving Powell for REAL, Fausto and Swenson, skating with Natas and Gonz, and much more. There’s even a first impression by an old friend.

@Tommy Guerrero

Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 99: MOFO Vol. 1

Raised in Escondido; Mofo is a straight up legend—a pioneer who created or helped create much of what drew me into the world of skateboarding. His stories are plenty and his miles are many and the people he’s shot photos of… you’ve probably had on your wall. Whether it be early days at Thrasher Magazine, living with Tony Alva in So-Cal, coining and launching the “Skate Rock” department, crashing on Swenson’s couch in SF, being front-man for the Drunk Injuns skate rock band, creating logos for Thunder Trucks and SMA, or partying with Skip Engblom in Venice—Mo was there. Hope you enjoy this one as much as I did and believe me, the interview ran out of time way before I ran out of questions; thus the ‘Vol.1’ History is important kids, so listen up; it’s Mörizen Föche—RISIN RISIN!!!

BK, Mofo, Ortiz, and Grant Brittan—Now those are master lensmen…

Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 98: Mike Gigliotti

Holiday season is in full swing. This week we got Thanksgiving, Black Friday, Small-Business Saturday and… Mike Gigliotti. Mike owns and runs the Lotties skateshop in LA and has been skating and doing art most of his life. He was instrumental in helping out all the skateshops with a tshirt campaign when the pandemic first struck. This episode is dedicated to all skate shops world wide and has cameos from some friends of the show such as Trent from Cowtown, Matt D from DLXSF, Ryen from Atlas, Thomas Taylor from Stratosphere, Dandy from 510, Noah from Filter, Justin from Shrunken Head and our ender with an “after-black hammer’d” appearance from the homie in Greenville North Carolina, Billy Roban. Thanks to everyone that helped out with this episode and PLEASE—if you have to order online, do it from a skateshop.

New shirts coming soon…

Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 97: Bo Mitchell

You know him from East Bound and Down, Cobra Kai, maybe even October Road—he had a role in the movie Palo Alto as well. But for our money, he’s the dude that lights up Xmas day every year on the Thrasher site with his skateboarding in the Tired videos. Stoked to have met up with Bo on Zoom and talk South Cacka, acting, skateboarding, destroying cars with a baseball bat, going on trips with the homies, getting his dad a hair spray sponsor, hanging with Brad Staba and much more…

Too young to get the Land Rover, but this ad sparked miles ahead for Bo…

East Bound and Down…

Kickin’ it with James Franco

Dad got a hair spray sponsor for the hawk…

Tired and Destroying…

Skates-Giving: Thanksgiving dinner that Bo and his community would feed the locals annually for free. Held at his skatepark in Aiken usually feeding between 100 and 200 local skaters and their fams for eight years straight.

On the set with Danny McBride

Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 95: Lance Conklin

Born in Jersey and raised in Florida, Lance has many epic stories and relationships in skateboarding. Listen as we talk about Gonz showing him a noseblunt for the first time, the infamous Slayer interview at Disneyland, being in a band with Duane Peters, sand blastin cars in Ramona, givin’ tattoos, his top 5 skaters, his pick for the great American band… we even have a question from Frankie Hill and of course a First Impression from McKenney. Shout out to Burnside on their 30th anniversary and gear up for the big DERBY JACKET GIVEAWAY WINNER announcement.

Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 94: Allysha Le

Allysha Le was born in Torrance and raised in El Segundo and started skateboarding at an early age with the likes of SAlba and MAlba before getting sponsored by Osiris and H-Street and then eventually riding for Mimi Knoop’s all female company Hoopla Skateboards. Now on Creature, we discuss: skating with T.Mag, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Russell and Patrick Ryan, leaving Hoopla, Joe Fong, solving the Rubiks Cube, The Chili Bowl contests at Potrero Del Sol and much more…

Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 93: Salman Agah

The Thrasher Magazine Skater of the Year award began in 1990. First there was Tony Hawk, followed by Danny Way, then John Cardiel, and then my next guest. Salman grew up in Nor-Cal, was sponsored early on by Powell and was a huge part of the early days of REAL skateboards, oh and by the way… HE is the Switch God. He currently owns and operates his own pizza spot in Los Angeles called Pizzanista. I treasure our friendship and can always count on Salman to share knowledge…

Talkin’ Schmit Ep. 92: Tim Kerr

Artist, musician, skateboarder, human being. Tim Kerr is all that and doesn’t like to categorize any of it, it’s all him and who he is. We talk about growing up in Texas, the Big Boys, Pflugerville, Skate Rock, Jeff Phillips, Bad Brains, Poison 13, The Monkeywrench, skating ditches, Wirtz Elementary kids singing Minor Threat and much more—this one’s a long one but like Tim says…He’s done a lot of stuff!

The Monkeywrench
